The Inspector
The Inspector is a side panel, not a pane in the grid — it sits alongside whatever you're viewing (the session grid, the Neural Map, and so on) and shows details and quick actions for whatever is currently selected.
What it shows
| Selection | What the Inspector shows |
|---|---|
| A session or agent | Its identity and live status. |
| A workspace | Its members. |
| A file | Its location. |
| A bit page | Its word count. |
| A neural-map node | Its summary. |
Regardless of what's selected, the Inspector also always shows live CPU and memory information as a number alongside a fill-level bar, updating on the same cadence as Performance Settings' Refresh control — one shared interval drives both, so shortening or lengthening it changes how often the Inspector's readout updates too.
Editing hands off to Settings
The Inspector shows you information; it doesn't let you edit it directly. An "Edit in Settings…" action hands off any actual editing to contextual settings — the panel scoped to whatever you had selected. Nothing about the Inspector itself is a form.
Showing, hiding, and resizing
Toggle the Inspector with ⌃⌘I, or from the toolbar. It auto-collapses on a narrow window and restores when you widen it, and you can drag its edge to resize it. Its width and collapsed state are remembered per workspace — see Layout persistence.
Where to go next
- Contextual settings — where "Edit in Settings…" actually takes you, for every selectable kind.
- Layout persistence — what's remembered about the Inspector's width and collapsed state across relaunch.
- Neural Map — the Inspector's own, briefer reflection of a node's selection, alongside the map's dedicated node inspector.
