Inspecting Nodes

Clicking a node once selects it and opens its inspector, docked to the map. This page is what that panel actually contains, top to bottom.

A containment trail — workspace, then whatever sits between it and this node, then the node itself — joined with . It's the orientation cue for where a node sits before you read anything else about it, and it's the only part of the panel that answers "where is this," as opposed to "what is this."

Kind and title

A small badge names the node's kind, next to its title.

Live status, when there is one

A session or agent node with a running session shows a live status row — the same activity vocabulary used on the pane header and the activity animation elsewhere in NEXUS, so the map never disagrees with what the pane itself shows. A node with nothing running behind it — a roster agent with no live session, a bit page, a file — shows no status row at all rather than a stale or invented one.

Current action, when the agent is actually active

Beneath live status, an actively-running agent's most recent thought appears as a short line with a relative timestamp — what it's doing right now, from the same stream that feeds the Room. This only appears while the agent is genuinely active; it is never shown as a stale leftover from a run that has since gone idle, paused, or errored.

Signal weight

A weight bar gives a node's connection strength at a glance — a quick visual read on how central this node is to the graph around it, before you scroll down to the actual list of what it's connected to.

Summary

A short description of the node, when one exists.

Its strongest connections

A "SYNAPSES" section lists every connection touching this node, strongest first. By default only the top few are shown — a heavily-connected hub node's full list would otherwise be noise — with a "Show N more…" action to expand the rest. Nothing here requires you to leave the inspector to see what a node is most strongly linked to.

Actions

An "Open" action always appears first, performing the exact same drill-in behavior a double-click would — see Navigating for what its label reads and what it does per kind. Beneath it, further actions vary by what the node actually is: session lifecycle controls when there's a live session behind it, Simulate Synapse Flow for an agent or session node, and Start Team… plus Mesh Inbox for an agent node specifically. See Context Actions for the same actions as they appear on the right-click menu, and Mail & Counters for what Mesh Inbox opens.

Save Bit

Always present, regardless of node kind — it turns whatever's currently selected into a new note, linked back to this node.

Elsewhere, more briefly

The same selection is reflected, in shorter form, in two other places: the app-wide Inspector panel that follows whatever's selected anywhere in NEXUS, and the node's own entry in contextual settings, which exposes the same weight and connection count as plain read-only fields rather than the richer, ranked view described above. Use whichever one is already open; none of the three disagree with each other, since all three read the same selection.
